Moose Coaster – In the Fading Light
The Story:
John and Josiah photographed this beautiful cow Moose and her calf as they slowly made their way through the forest alongside the Crowsnest River in southwestern Alberta. The sun had just set, and the mom and calf were posing like they were professional models, much to the delight of the Launstein photographers. Eventually, they made their way into a stand of Red Osier Dogwood (often called Red Willow), and munched away as the twilight began to give way to night. When a hiker appeared on the far bank of the river with their dog, the mother moose immediately gave it her full attention, and her calf followed her lead. As they stood motionless in the darkness at the edge of the forest, John was able to craft this long-exposure image of the pair.
