Rufous Hummingbird Coaster – Hidden Treasures

The Story:

John was being tormented by this female Rufous Hummingbird, who would appear in the wildflowers he was photographing and then seemingly evaporate into thin air. He knew the general direction she kept disappearing into, but could never figure out where she went. Finally Josiah spotted her tucked into her tiny nest in the branches of a nearby conifer. A few minutes later, she darted back out for another feeding run and when she returned, two tiny hummingbird beaks appeared asking mom for a meal. John and Josiah quietly backed away to leave her to tend to her young family, marveling at these precious jewels almost completely hidden in the forest.
